Renewable energy developer Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) has announced that it will lead development activities for the newly awarded 600 megawatt (MW) Fengmiao 2 Offshore Wind Farm, located around 40 kilometres off the coast of Taichung City in Taiwan.
This development comes after the award of capacity to the Fengmiao 2 project by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) through its fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V), in Taiwan’s Round 3.2 Zonal Development Offshore Wind Auction.
As the exclusive offshore wind development partner to CIP, COP said it will oversee the development of the Fengmiao 2 Offshore Wind Farm.
Since entering Taiwan in 2017, CIP and COP have been involved in several wind projects in the country. These include the 500 MW Fengmiao 1 Offshore Windfarm, the 595 MW Changfang and Xidao Offshore Wind Farms, and the 298 MW Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm, which generated first power in June 2024 in partnership with China Steel Corporation.
“The Fengmiao 2 project is a testament to COP’s expanding 50 GW [gigawatt] offshore wind development pipeline worldwide,” the company said.
In July, COP said it has completed the Environmental Impact Assessment consultation with South Korea’s Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for its Haewoori Offshore Wind project, a 1.5 GW floating plant planned approximately 80 kilometres off the coast of Ulsan.
