Turbine Defect Shuts Down Rostov 1

28 Aug 2024  by neimagazine

Unit 1 at Russia’s Rostov NPP has been disconnected from the network by operational personnel following discovery of a defect in turbine steam selection equipment. According to the system operator, power supply was completely restored after a short-term interruption for repairs. Nuclear utility Rosenergoatom said the incident did not impact safety, and background radiation at the NPP and surrounding area did not change.

Rostov NPP comprises four VVER-1000 reactors. Unit 2 has been closed for scheduled repairs since July.
