The sites for tender were announced by Eniya as part of a panel at the 7th Indonesia-China Forum in Bali, Indonesia. During the event, Eniya emphasized that increasing the renewable energy capacity of Indonesia will require a huge investment.
“Indonesia has abundant geothermal energy potential of up to 23.6 GW with 2.6 GW (11%) already utilized so that its availability for utilization is still very open. We have offered it to various parties and now some have been developed. There are some that we are still offering to investors who are interested in developing geothermal in Indonesia,” said Eniya.
The MEMR had very recently announced a tender for geothermal survey and exploration at the Bora Pulu and Samosir sites in Central Sulawesi and North Sumatra, respectively.
