Harmony Energy to Build Nearly 150 MW Solar Projects in New Zealand

11 Sep 2024  by asian-power
Harmony Energy has expanded its New Zealand portfolio with resource consent for the 75 megawatt (MW) Ōpunake and 73.5 MW Marton solar power plants.

According to the company, these projects will generate electricity to power around 30,000 homes, contributing to New Zealand’s climate change mitigation efforts and the transition to a low-emissions economy. These will also enhance energy security and contribute to making clean energy more affordable.

The projects are expected to create approximately 400 direct full-time equivalent jobs during their construction.

“Obtaining resource consent for these projects represents another milestone for the NZ business. Construction of the Tauhei Solar Farm is on track to start this spring so it’s great to know there’s more in the pipeline,” said Harmony Energy Director Pete Grogan.
