Botswana’s Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) has issued a tender for the provision of an assessment and technical feasibility study for the implementation of a floating solar PV plant at its dams. The project will involve an open international bidding process.

Bidders must be registered with the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) in relevant categories, including Electrical Engineering Services (Code 304), Energy Management Services (Code 323), Civil Engineering Services (Code 303), Environmental Services (Code 313), Financial Related Services (Code 314), and Legal Services (Code 318). The tender is reserved for citizen-owned contractors under Section 76 of the Public Procurement Act, with preference margins applicable as part of the Economic Diversification Drive (EDD).

Site visits were held earlier this month at Gaborone, Bokaa, Lotsane, Letsibogo and Dikgatlhong dams.

Tender documents for the floating solar project can be obtained online at WUC Tenders. A non-refundable deposit of BWP 1,100 is required, with youth-owned companies (ages 18-35) eligible for a 50% discount. Payment is to be processed via the WUC website.

Sealed tender submissions must include one original and two copies of the documents, each placed in separate envelopes (Technical and Financial Offers) and enclosed in a single outer envelope marked “Tender Reference No. WUC 061 (2024)”. Submissions should be delivered to the Senior Manager: Supply Chain, Tender Room, Water Utilities Corporation, Sedibeng House, Plot 17530, Luthuli Road, Old Industrial Site, Gaborone, Botswana.
