US-based independent power producer WattBridge Energy has begun commercial operations at its 384MW Remy Jade generating station in Harris County, Texas.

The facility will provide dispatchable power for two million homes, contributing to the stability and reliability of the local energy infrastructure.

The Remy Jade generating station is equipped with eight 48MW aero-derivative gas-turbine packages.

The units bolster renewable energy generation, particularly when demand outstrips supply, regardless of weather conditions.

The 384MW facility is the sixth plant built by WattBridge in four years.

With the addition of the Remy Jade facility, WattBridge’s operational portfolio now exceeds 2.3GW of dispatchable power resources.

Further expansion is on the horizon as WattBridge has submitted proposals for four projects, collectively exceeding 1.6GW, to the Texas Energy Fund (TEF).

These projects will almost double the company’s capacity in the state to 5GW.

WattBridge president Mike Alvarado stated: “The WattBridge platform answers the call for new power generation in Texas like no one else.

“Since 2020, we have commissioned six generating facilities with 48 turbines and created the largest LM6000 fleet in the world. Now we’re ready to build more capacity for Texans.”

The new facilities, like all WattBridge plants, were delivered as turnkey PowerFLX solutions by PROENERGY.

PROENERGY CEO Jeff Canon stated: “Dispatchable generation isn’t just a part of the energy transition – it is the energy transition.

“A clean energy future requires a practical and repeatable model with proven technology that supports renewable development in every power market in the world.”

In May 2023, WattBridge Energy completed the commissioning of the 288MW Brotman generating station in Brazoria County, Texas.
