Following the construction of an initial 3.2-MWe geothermal power plant in the town of Ayvacik in Canakkale, Türkiye, Transmark Turkey has announced plans for the 15.8-MWe Transmark Geothermal Power Plant-2 (GPP-2). This expansion is in line with the initial development plans for the site that were announced back in 201.

The project has an investment value of approximately 430 million TL and 13 well locations have been determined in 6 different areas. Of these wells, 8 will be used as production wells and 5 will be used as reinjection wells. The planned geothermal power plant will generate 126.4 GWh (126,400,000 kWh/year) of electricity per year, which will be enough to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 38,000 people.

Once the power plant is operational, the electricity generated will be connected to the substation via the Electricity Transmission Line and transmitted to the national interconnected system via the MV bus of Ayvacik Substation. Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbine technology will be used in GPP-2 and a maximum of 2,250 tonnes of geothermal fluid per hour will be used during operation.

Transmark Turkey Gülpinar Yenilenebilir Enerji Üretim San. ve Tic. A.S. is the Turkish subsidiary of Amsterdam-based geothermal energy company Transmark Renewables. The project will be established in the Geothermal-IR 17/44 License Numbered field located in Yukar?köy Mevkii, Ayvac?k district of Çanakkale province.
