The Proicere digital rehearsal model, nominated for a Bentley Systems Year In Infrastructure and Going Digital award

A4D model developed for the Sellafield Retreatment Plant (SRP) Project, Cumbria, UK, has been nominated for an industry award. Bentley Systems Year In Infrastructure and Going Digital award. Developed by Proicere, the model is saving considerable time and millions of pounds as well as environmental impact benefits. Allowing contractors at SRP to visualise, plan and execute the site works, de-risking delivery years ahead of build time, contractors used the platform to establish a digital environment, to perform construction simulation for efficiently allocating resources, identifying and resolving safety risks and spatial clashes. By April 2024, their service had already saved £73.2m (US$97.2m) in costs, avoided over 500 days of rework, and enabled site teams to identify over 160 risks at the SRP project. It is part of the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s programme to transfer, repackage and store 140 tonnes of plutonium for 100 years.

Proicere’s digital rehearsal model is based on Bentley Systems’ SYNCHRO software and allows construction teams to coordinate complex tasks under tight schedules while ensuring full compliance with the rigorous safety protocols required at the Sellafield site. This integration enhances efficiency and safety, streamlining project management, a statement says.

Established in 2004, the Awards honour Bentley software users advancing infrastructure design, construction, and operations around the world. The immersive Building Information Modelling (BIM) platform has been nominated in the construction category.
