RES and Aula Energy, established by Macquarie Asset Management, have partnered to advance the development of the 612MW Argoon wind farm in New South Wales (NSW).

Located 20km north of Jerilderie and 30km southwest of Coleambally, the project is located within the NSW South-West Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

The wind facility will generate enough clean energy to power 430,000 homes annually in NSW.

The collaboration between Aula Energy and RES is not their first; they have previously worked together on the Murra Warra wind farm projects in Victoria.

Murra Warra projects, completed in 2022, showcased the combined expertise of both companies in delivering large-scale wind energy solutions.

Argoon wind farm is poised to deliver significant benefits to the local community and region, with more than $40m in community benefit-sharing commitments over the project’s 30-year lifespan.

Aula Energy CEO Chad Hymas stated: “We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with RES through our investment in the Argoon wind farm.

“This project is a testament to our shared goals and our dedication to driving the renewable energy transition, which will deliver benefits for communities in NSW and Australia more broadly.”

As part of the project, RES plans to establish a Riverina Renewables Services Centre. This initiative will create an operations and maintenance services hub, coupled with an education and training facility.

RES Australia CEO Matt Rebbeck stated: “We are excited to welcome Aula Energy as an investor in the Argoon wind farm.

“This partnership underscores our shared commitment to the energy transition and builds on an existing collaborative working relationship. We look forward to achieving another significant milestone in renewable energy development.”

In September 2024, RES agreed to divest Australia’s Tarong West wind farm to Stanwell.
