The Indonesian operator is drilling two new wells – Camar West-1 and -2 on the Camar field, which is located on the Bawean working area (WK).
The two-well drilling campaign being performed by the Indonesia-flagged jack-up rig Ensco 106 commenced on 23 October and is scheduled to last for 65 days, said Indonesia’s upstream regulator SKK Migas.
The CW-1 well has a prognosed total depth of 1986 metres (6516 feet) while CW-2 to the north will be drilled to a depth of 1547 metres (5076 feet).
The main target for the drilling programme is the Masalembo sand formation, with the secondary target being the Kujung II lower limestone.
To save time and reduce costs, Prima would batch drill the wells using adjacent slots in one caisson on the MPA, said SKK Migas.
Prima Energi Bawean holds a 100% operated interest in the Bawean WK. The company in late 2022 obtained a cost recovery production sharing contract for the asset via the direct bid process.
Earlier this year, the company successfully reactivated the Camar central processing platform (CPP) as part of its work to increase output, added SKK Migas.
Prima is also reactivating the monopod platform A (MPA) and will install a pipeline from MPA to the CPP. Water depths are the Camar field are around 64 metres,
By reactivating the MPA facility that hosts old wells such as CM-6, in addition to the new CW-1 and CW-2 wells, production at Camar is expected to reach an estimated 2200 barrels per day oil. Also, an additional 1.6 million barrels of reserves are expected.
The latest drilling campaign together with workovers of some existing wells should extend the field life of the mature field, as well as boost Indonesia’s crude output.
