EnBw Taps JBO for Work on 1 GW German Offshore Wind Farm

11 Nov 2024
German engineering company Jörss-Blunck-Ordemann (JBO) has been awarded new contracts by EnBW for the geotechnical work and pre-FEED design for the Dreekant offshore wind project in Germany.

EnBW secured the rights to develop an offshore wind farm in the N-12.3 area in the German North Sea in June this year.

Located 120 kilometres northwest of Heligoland, the 1 GW project is planned to enter operation in 2031 and is expected to cover the electricity needs of 1.35 million households.

EnBW said that it plans to sell much of the electricity produced by the Dreekant offshore wind farm to industrial customers in the future through power purchase agreements (PPAs).

This is not the first time that EnBW and JBO are working together. In 2021, the offshore wind developer awarded JBO a contract to provide a detailed design of wind turbine substructures and foundations for the He Dreiht project currently under construction.

The wind farm will feature Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines and is scheduled to start operation in late 2025 with a total capacity of 960 MW.
