The company will deploy its Australian-flagged Offshore Solution multipurpose supply vessel (MPSV) and leverage its subsea knowledge to gather and provide a set of subsea data in order to support future offshore wind developments in the region, said MMA.
The campaign is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024 and run through the first quarter of 2025.
“As a testament to MMA’s significant amount of experience in supporting the offshore wind market in South East Asia, we believe this marks the first of many opportunities in the Australian offshore wind sector in the coming years“, said David Ross, MMA Managing Director.
Ørsted was one of the first companies to secure a feasibility licence for offshore wind projects proposed to be built offshore Gippsland.
The Danish company estimates the cluster has the potential to generate a combined 4.8 GW of renewable energy, which can eventually power the equivalent of four million Australian homes.
Recently, Ørsted awarded Fugro a contract to carry out a floating LiDAR measurement campaign for its Gippsland offshore wind farms.
