Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) has announced that its 495MW Formosa 4 Offshore Wind Project has officially secured the establishment permit from Taiwan's Energy Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs.

This marks Formosa 4 as the first project to reach this significant milestone among all successful bidders in the first round of auctions for Phase 3 Zonal Development of Offshore Wind, SRE said.

Formosa 4 is also the first project in this round to receive a letter of consent from the local government, a crucial step toward obtaining the Establishment Permit.

These achievements reflect SRE’s commitment to renewable energy development and energy transition in Taiwan and across the broader Asia-Pacific region, it added.

Lucas Lin, chairperson of SRE, said: "We are deeply grateful to the central authorities, local government, and relevant agencies for their recognition and support of Formosa 4, which has enabled our team to steadily progress through each review process and achieve this significant milestone.

"SRE maintains strong confidence in Taiwan’s offshore wind potential and remains committed to the market.

"As a leading offshore wind developer in Taiwan, we will continue driving our projects forward to accelerate the energy transition."

Formosa 4, planned off the coast of Miaoli County, is SRE’s third offshore wind project in Taiwan.

The wind farm is expected to power more than 500,000 households upon completion.
