Vestas has inaugurated a new blades production line for its V236-15.0MW offshore wind turbine at the Danish company’s factory in Taranto, Italy.
The new facility will create 1300 additional jobs in manufacturing and marks a milestone in the OEM’s journey to expand offshore wind globally, it said.
“We are proud to further invest in our European footprint,” said senior vice president, blades manufacturing, Kenneth Kaser.
“This expansion showcases the positive impact we can drive for the energy transition and job creation when we see stable demand in the market.”
The company added: “Thank you to the Port and City of Taranto for the engagement and to Invitalia for the support.
“The collaboration underscores how when industry and governments come together, we can scale up clean energy in Europe and advance the energy transition globally.”
