The Eco Wave Power project was built in collaboration with EDF Renewables Israel, supported by the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Energy and Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.
“The launch of Israel’s first wave energy power plant is more than just a technological achievement—it’s a powerful statement about the future we envision,” said Inna Braverman, Founder and CEO of Eco Wave Power. “This project at Jaffa Port represents a historic milestone in the global renewable energy journey, proving that sea waves can be a viable, clean, and consistent source of electricity.”
The wave energy system is comprised of 10 floaters along the Port of Jaffa’s existing breakwater. Each floater connects directly to Eco Wave Power’s land-based energy conversion unit, which enables easy access for operational maintenance and upgrades.
In addition to providing clean energy to Israel’s electrical grid, the EWP-EDF One power station will serve as a public education center. Eco Wave Power announced that it received the GREENinMED grant from the EU, which will fund the creation and installation of a “unique educational experience” at the Port of Jaffa station.
