02 Dec 2024
Leader Energy has taken a significant step in transforming Cambodia’s renewable energy landscape by signing an Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Ministry of Mines and Energy for a 150 MW wind farm.

This project marks Leader Energy’s inaugural venture into wind power, reflecting its strategic expansion as a leading energy player in Southeast Asia. With expertise spanning solar, hydro, transmission lines, battery storage, and green mobility, the company is adding wind energy to its renewable portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development in the region.

Located in Mondulkiri province, the wind farm will tap into Cambodia’s untapped wind potential, demonstrating the feasibility of large-scale wind energy projects. It aims to diversify the country’s energy mix, support its growing electricity demands, and contribute to its clean energy transition. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the wind farm represents a transformative milestone in Cambodia’s journey toward a sustainable energy future. Dato’ Sean H’ng Chun Hsiang, Executive Deputy Chairman and Co-Group CEO of Leader Energy said:

“We deeply appreciate the unwavering support of our partners, stakeholders, and Cambodia’s Ministries, including the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Cambodia’s national utility company, Électricité du Cambodge (EDC). Their collaboration and visionary leadership have been instrumental in bringing this project to life. Together, we are not merely constructing infrastructure but shaping a cleaner, greener future for Cambodia.”
