FuturEnergy Ireland and ART Generation have outlined plans for the 72MW Ballyfasy wind farm in southern Ireland, the second joint development between the partners.
The ESB-Coillte JV and the Kilkenny-based company have confirmed they are planning the project in County Kilkenny, as reported by subscriber-only reNEWS on 10 October.
No tip height details have yet been revealed but the site is expected to feature up to 10 turbines..
Ballyfasy is located east of Mullinavat, north of Waterford city.
FEI and ART have kicked off pre-application consultations with An Bord Pleanala ahead of the submission of a full permit request for the site.
ABP will give feedback before the planning paperwork is filed.
The talks are expected to run until February next year and, once completed, will pave the way for the permit application.
The filing is expected to be made via the fast-track strategic infrastructure process due to the size of the scheme.
Ballyfasy is located close to the developers’ other project, the 139MW Castlebanny.
FEI and ART secured a RESS 4 contract in last month’s auction for the site north-west of the new scheme.
FEI is developing a gigawatt-scale portfolio, and has a stake in the operational 30MW Lenalea wind farm in County Donegal (pictured).
