Proserv’s Electro Cable Guard to Be Utilised at Dogger Bank Wind Farm

10 Dec 2024
Proserv’s Electro Cable Guard (ECG) will be used in the third phase of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm to identify signs of transmission cable failure. Under a contract with Deme Offshore, Proserv will deploy its technology to enhance asset reliability through earlier failure detection and prevention.

The ECG uses passive electrical sensors to monitor inter-array cables and terminations, delivering early fault detection by permanently and synchronously monitoring the combined effect of electrical and mechanical stresses on power cables and terminations. It does not require additional power or telecommunications infrastructure.

Located 130 km off the Yorkshire coast, the Dogger Bank Wind Farm is being built in three phases with a total of 277 turbines (95 in phases A and B, and 87 in phase C), each standing 260 metres tall. The project is set for completion in 2027. The Dogger Bank C contract will be project managed, engineered, and delivered by Proserv’s Great Yarmouth-based team.
