Delmar Systems will provide the complete mooring systems for the floating wind turbine, which will moor the modular, light semi-submersible floater hull, designed by Ocergy, to the seabed.
According to the company, this floater design promises fast assembly and optimised costs, advancing the standards in floating wind technology.
Archer Wind is collaborating with TotalEnergies and progressing with detailed engineering, fabrication, and assembly, said Delmar Systems.
Earlier this year, Archer took over Moreld Ocean Wind (MOW) and with it a stake in the floating wind technology developer Ocergy, whose foundation will be installed at the Culzean site. The fabrication of the foundation commenced in November.
The pilot project, selected in Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas (INTOG) leasing round in 2023, will feature a 3 MW floating wind turbine positioned two kilometres west of the Culzean production complex in the UK central North Sea.
Once fully operational, the project will cover approximately 20 per cent of Culzean’s needs, in addition to the electricity already generated by gas turbines, according to TotalEnergies.
