Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, has commissioned and started power transmission from its 200 MW solar power project in Khavda, Gujarat. The Khavda solar project will supply green power to 20 cement plants.
Ambuja Cements plans to build 1 GW renewable power capacity (including solar and wind) along with 376 MW from waste heat recovery systems (WHRS) with an investment of INR 10,000 crore, enabling 60% of its power requirement to be met with green power by FY 2028.
The 200 MW Khavda solar power plant is part of the ambitious 1 GW renewable power (solar+wind) project. Of the balance 806 MW capacity of the 1 GW RE project, 156 MW of wind power project in Khavda and a further 300 MW solar power project in Rajasthan are expected to be commissioned by March 2025. The balance 350 MW solar project is expected to be commissioned by June 2025.
