Germany’s Federal Network Agency has awarded 4GW of capacity in the latest onshore wind tender results.
More than 6GW of bids were submitted to the oversubscribed tender on 1 November.
The 4094MW of awarded capacity comprises 348 bids.
"The bid quantity submitted exceeded the previous record from the previous tender by more than double.
“Almost as many bids were submitted as in all bidding rounds from 2023 combined.
“The extremely positive trend in bidding will also be clearly evident in commissioning from next year," said Klaus Muller, President of the Federal Network Agency.
The Federal Network Agency had not reduced the tender volume in advance, as the very high number of new licences reported had indicated an oversubscription.
For the first time since February 2022, the bid volume submitted exceeded the unreduced tender volume.
The values determined in the bid price procedure vary between 6.93 €ct/kWh and 7.35 €ct/kWh.
As in the previous tender rounds, by far the largest award volume was accounted for by bids for sites in North Rhine-Westphalia (1256MW, 116 awards), followed by sites in Lower Saxony (606MW, 46 awards), Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (429MW, 32 awards) and Brandenburg (380MW, 46 awards).
