December 16th, according to a report by CCTV, the world's first hydrogen metallurgy green car panel continuous casting production line by HBIS was put into operation today in Zhangjiakou, Hebei. This production line is equipped with a 1900mm single-stream slab continuous casting machine, capable of producing 1.5 million tons of high-end, green, low-carbon car panels annually. These car panel steels can be used to produce high-end steel products such as car structure steel, ultra-low carbon steel, and automobile beam steel.

The working principle of hydrogen metallurgy involves using hydrogen as a reducing agent to reduce iron ore into metallic iron in a shaft furnace, with the main byproduct being water, thereby achieving the goal of zero carbon emissions.

Experts indicate that replacing carbon with hydrogen can fundamentally and from the source eliminate the absolute dependence on fossil energy in steel production. Low-carbon metallurgy technology is the strategic high ground for promoting the green transformation of the steel industry and determines the future competitive landscape of the global steel industry.

Additionally, it provides low-carbon products for automobile manufacturing enterprises, offering strong support for companies to achieve carbon neutrality.
