Mariam Sherman stated that the World Bank is seeking to collaborate with Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group on joint activities, including renewable energy.
She added that the bank has invested in education, healthcare, energy, transportation, water resources, agriculture, urban development, digitization, and climate change adaptation in Vietnam.
Due to the emerging nature of offshore wind power in Vietnam and the incomplete legal framework, there are currently no offshore wind power projects in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade is drafting a pilot mechanism for offshore wind power. Due to the close relationship between this industry and national defense and security, the Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to only allow state-owned enterprises to participate in this industry.
According to Vice Premier Chen Honghe's conclusion on piloting offshore wind power, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and Vietnam State Power Company (EVN) are studying two offshore wind power projects.
