Saudi Arabia's ENOWA, in collaboration with Hydrogen Refueling Solutions (HRS), has successfully launched the nation's first heavy-duty hydrogen refueling station at Petromin Corporation. Operational in just 12 weeks, the station has already dispensed nearly 500 kilograms of hydrogen, fueling vehicles at both 350 and 700 bar pressures, marking a milestone in the NEOM region's green hydrogen ambitions.

Details of the Project:

ENOWA, the energy and water subsidiary of NEOM, partnered with HRS to deploy the first hydrogen refueling station of its kind in Saudi Arabia. Key highlights of the project include:

Ultra-Fast Installation:

The station was operational merely three months after the order was signed, showcasing HRS's exceptional adaptability and performance.

Capabilities and Usage:

Hydrogen refueling for buses (35 kg at 700 bar) completed in under 20 minutes, even in 31°C temperatures.

Passenger vehicles refueled at 700 bar.

Specialized trucks and equipment supported at 350 and 700 bar pressures.

Operational Success:

By September 2024, the station had dispensed almost 500 kilograms of hydrogen for cars and buses, further advancing hydrogen-powered mobility in the region.

Support and Training:

HRS not only installed the station but also recruited and trained an on-site maintenance technician, Laïd Laroui, to ensure smooth operations, highlighting a commitment to localized expertise and sustainable maintenance.

Peter Terium, CEO of ENOWA, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, stating:

"We are delighted to partner with HRS to provide hydrogen-powered mobility solutions. Together, we will accelerate innovations in clean technologies powered by green hydrogen and contribute to hydrogen mobility markets."

This station is the first in a broader network of hydrogen refueling stations planned for the NEOM region, aiming to establish a large-scale sustainable mobility ecosystem. By leveraging green hydrogen, ENOWA and HRS are setting benchmarks in accelerating the transition toward cleaner transportation technologies.
