The Yamanashi Prefectural Government in Japan has partnered with SGH2 Energy, a Washington, D.C.-based multinational company, to promote green hydrogen initiatives in the Fuji Five Lakes region. This collaboration aims to transform the area into a sustainable 'green metropolis' and set a benchmark for future urban development globally.

SGH2 Energy will develop and implement a state-of-the-art carbon-negative hydrogen production facility using local biomass and biogenic waste feedstocks from Yamanashi. The facility will produce green hydrogen to power e-mobility fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) systems, replace diesel-powered tourist buses, and supply clean energy to local industries.

The agreement underscores the commitment of both parties to advance innovative solutions in green energy and sustainability. It was signed by Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture; Dr. Hiroshi Tasaka, Chairperson of the Fuji Five Lakes Metropolis Forum; and Robert T. Do, CEO of SGH2 Energy Global Corp.

The partnership is a milestone in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions and could serve as a blueprint for green energy integration in transportation and industry. It demonstrates the unwavering commitment of both parties to creating a sustainable future and showcases the Fuji Five Lakes region as a pioneer in sustainable tourism and clean energy innovation.

The Fuji Five Lakes Metropolis Forum, led by Dr. Tasaka, aims to establish a sustainable urban model in the area and includes initiatives such as the Fuji Green Hydrogen Community Consortium to combat climate change by advancing green hydrogen technologies. The Forum also spearheads other consortia driving innovative governance and community development practices.
