NSW EV Charging Boosted on Travel Routes

18 Feb 2025  by energymagazine
New South Wales has installed electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on nine popular road trip routes. These routes cover pristine beaches, mountain ranges, national parks, and charming towns, ensuring seamless recharging for tourists. There are at least two fast-charging plugs and one destination charging plug per 100km. Modern EVs can typically travel 400km on a single charge. Each route highlights unique local attractions, including regional towns, gourmet food, and cultural experiences. The nine EV-friendly road trips range from 100km to 819km in length. The New South Wales Government is investing $199 million to support the installation of thousands of EV charge ports across the state, including ultra-fast charging stations, destination and kerbside chargers. This investment aims to make New South Wales a leader in EV adoption and sustainable tourism, while also providing budget-friendly travel options and supporting regional economies.
