The Limestone Coast North energy park is expected to commence commercial operations in early 2027.

Pacific Green Technologies has completed a deal to sell its 250MW battery energy storage system, known as Limestone Coast North energy park, to Intera Renewables for A$460 million ($293 million). Located in South Australia, this facility is slated to begin commercial operations in early 2027. With a capacity of 250MW/500 megawatt hours (MWh), it stands as a key component of the region’s renewable energy framework. This park is one of two projects Pacific Green is developing in the area.

The agreement transfers full ownership of Limestone Coast North to Intera, a renewable energy entity supported by Palisade Investment Partners. Pacific Green will manage construction until the park is operational, after which Palisade Integrated Management Services will handle asset management for Intera. This transaction initiates Pacific Green’s broader strategy to establish a 10 gigawatt hours (GWh) network of battery energy parks across Australia.

Work continues on the Limestone Coast West project, another 250MW/1000MWh development, with grid approvals underway and construction set to start in September 2025. Pacific Green is also securing development approval for the Portland Energy Park in Victoria, featuring four co-located battery units totaling 100MW/2500MWh, with construction planned for March 2026. In November 2024, the company acquired land rights in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, marking its first venture in that state.

Chief Executive Officer Scott Poulter commented: “We are delighted to have entered this agreement with Palisade, one of Australia’s leading infrastructure fund managers. Limestone Coast North is critical to South Australia’s electricity network and is the first of Pacific Green’s 10GWh Australian pipeline. We are also very pleased to enter into the first of a portfolio of long-term tolling power purchase agreements with Zen Energy.” The South Australian government granted planning approval for Pacific Green’s initial pair of large-scale battery parks on the Limestone Coast in July 2024.

This sale reflects Pacific Green’s commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure in Australia. The Limestone Coast North project strengthens South Australia’s energy grid, while the company’s upcoming developments in Victoria and New South Wales signal a sustained effort to meet growing demand for sustainable power solutions. The partnership with Intera and Palisade ensures the project’s completion and long-term management, aligning with Pacific Green’s broader objectives in the renewable sector.
