Mauricio Quintana, chief executive of KK Wind Solutions, stated: “Establishing a regional division led by Kim Wichmann-Hansen strengthens our presence in the US market and deepens our commitment to the American wind industry. Even as the sector is facing political uncertainty, the fundamental value offering of wind energy is strong as ever and we remain optimistic about continued growth in the coming years.” This highlights the company’s positive outlook for the industry despite current challenges.
By the end of 2023, the U.S. had an installed wind capacity of 157 GW, making it the second-largest wind market globally. The U.S. Department of Energy predicts this will increase to 224 GW by 2030. With many onshore wind turbines aging—expected to triple in number over 15 years old by that time—demand is rising for advanced monitoring and maintenance solutions, which KK Wind Solutions provides.
Since entering the U.S. market in 2014, the company has supplied components to 50% of the country’s operating wind turbines. Kim Wichmann-Hansen, now president of KK Wind Solutions US, said: “With our decade-long track record as a service provider to manufacturers and asset operators across the US we can provide our customers a comprehensive suite of solutions from vibration sensing to control, cooling and converter systems for new installations.” He also noted the firm’s offerings include spare parts, logistics, and data-driven tools to minimise downtime and boost asset efficiency.
The new division will be based at the company’s recently established U.S. headquarters in Houston, Texas, alongside its existing site in Lenexa, Kansas. Houston was chosen for its role as an energy hub in Texas, the state with the most onshore wind capacity in the U.S., and for its proximity to key customers and talent. The office will support teams focused on service and monitoring.
Additionally, KK Wind Solutions is enhancing its Lenexa warehouse and developing advanced infrastructure for modular battery energy storage systems. This move reinforces the company’s dedication to sustainable energy solutions and its strategy to meet growing demand in the U.S. wind sector with reliable, high-quality services.
