Poland’s $1 Billion Energy Storage Subsidy Scheme Opens for Applications

07 Apr 2025  by renews
Poland has launched a call for co-funding to finance energy storage facilities as part of a major EU initiative. The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) announced that it will open applications for co-financing projects. The funding is part of the EU’s Modernization Fund, which will provide over €1 billion (approximately PLN 4 billion) by 2025. This money will be used to support energy storage projects worth more than 5 gigawatt-hours by 2028.

The aim of this initiative is to enhance the stability of Poland’s power grid and improve energy security, especially with the increasing use of renewable energy sources. The announcement comes from Józef Matysiak, deputy president of the NFOŚiGW management board, who emphasized the importance of energy storage in stabilizing the energy system and making better use of renewable energy. He noted that this funding is a significant opportunity for entrepreneurs looking to participate in energy transformation.

Poland’s energy sector has been a focal point for environmental and economic development, and this call for applications reflects the country’s commitment to modernizing its energy infrastructure. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the EU to support renewable energy projects and reduce carbon emissions. By supporting these energy storage facilities, Poland aims to play a key role in the EU’s climate goals.

This move highlights the collaboration between Poland and the EU in addressing energy challenges and promoting sustainable growth. The funding will help ensure a more resilient energy grid, which is essential for the country’s economic and environmental stability.
