Jindal (India) Ltd, a subsidiary of the B.C. Jindal Group and a manufacturer of downstream steel products, has stepped into the renewable energy field with its new Jindalume line of aluminum-zinc (Al-Zn) coated coils. These coils are designed for solar module mounting structures, offering excellent corrosion resistance, structural strength, and long-lasting durability. The Al-Zn coating makes them ideal for withstanding tough outdoor conditions, ensuring solar installations remain reliable for years.

A company spokesperson highlighted the promising outlook for the solar market, stating that Jindalume is crafted to provide enduring performance and support robust solar infrastructure. Jindal (India) has already started delivering these coils to the solar industry, marking its entry into this growing sector. The company operates two production plants near Kolkata, serving customers nationwide. Recently, it unveiled plans to boost its capacity by 0.6 million metric tons, a 60% rise from its current 1 million metric tons annually. This expansion will fund advanced research and development, broadening its product range and reinforcing its role in renewable energy.

In 2024, the B.C. Jindal Group outlined a $2.5 billion investment plan over the next five years to expand its footprint in India’s renewable energy landscape. To oversee these efforts, it established Jindal India Renewable Energy, a dedicated unit focused on renewable power generation and solar cell and module production. The group targets generating 5 gigawatts (GW) of power from solar, wind, hybrid, and firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) sources. Additionally, it plans to manufacture photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules to meet the rising demand for solar energy solutions.

The launch of Jindalume aligns with Jindal (India)’s broader strategy to support sustainable energy growth. By enhancing its production capacity and leveraging advanced materials, the company aims to cater to the solar industry’s needs effectively. The Kolkata facilities, combined with the planned expansion, position Jindal (India) to play a significant role in supplying durable components for renewable projects across India. Meanwhile, the B.C. Jindal Group’s ambitious investment reflects confidence in the sector’s potential, contributing to both energy production and manufacturing advancements.

This move strengthens Jindal (India)’s presence in the renewable energy market, supporting infrastructure that powers clean energy initiatives. With its focus on durability and innovation, Jindalume is set to bolster solar installations, while the group’s wider plans enhance India’s renewable energy capacity through diverse sources and local production.
