Goodwe Unveils Hybrid Inverters for Large Residential Applications

10 Apr 2025  by pv magazine
GoodWe, a Chinese manufacturer of inverters and energy storage solutions, has introduced its EHB single-phase, high-voltage hybrid inverter to the Australian and New Zealand markets. The EHB series, ranging from 5 kW to 10 kW, targets the rising need for larger residential energy storage systems.

Dean Williamson, GoodWe’s Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand, stated: “The EHB provides the ideal solution for larger, single-phase residential energy storage systems, to meet consumer demand. The EHB also adds to our ever-growing range of single- and three-phase high-voltage hybrid inverters, which will continue to grow in 2025 and beyond with even more exciting new products.” This launch expands GoodWe’s offerings in the region.

The EHB series boasts a maximum efficiency of 97.6% and a battery-to-AC efficiency of 96.5%. It is designed to work seamlessly with high-power solar modules, supporting 200% PV oversizing for systems up to 20 kW. With up to four maximum power point trackers (MPPTs) and a 16 A input current per string, it suits large or intricate rooftop setups. The inverter also features UPS-level switching in under 10 milliseconds.

GoodWe highlighted that the backup capability suits both new and existing installations, including integration into microgrid systems to maintain functionality during power outages. The unit includes Type II surge protection on both DC and AC sides, an arc fault current interrupter, and an IP65 rating for outdoor use.

Measuring 415 mm x 791 mm x 180 mm and weighing up to 33 kilograms, the EHB inverters are built for straightforward installation with a plug-and-play design. They feature a Wi-Fi + LAN 2.0 module for remote monitoring via the GoodWe app, and each unit comes with a standard GoodWe Smart Meter for system management.

The company plans to release a “hybrid-ready” version of the EHB series in the coming months, offering added flexibility for homeowners and small businesses looking to incorporate energy storage. This move reflects GoodWe’s focus on adapting to evolving energy needs in Australia and New Zealand.

The launch of the EHB series strengthens GoodWe’s position in providing efficient, scalable energy solutions, catering to the growing adoption of residential solar and storage systems in these markets.
