Azerbaijan Enhances Power Infrastructure in Kalbajar With New Transformer Station

10 Apr 2025  by trend
Azerbaijan’s Kalbajar city will soon see the construction of a transformer station as part of the initial phase of an electricity supply project. This development also includes the installation of a 35 kV electricity transmission line within the city. The initiative aims to enhance the region’s power infrastructure, supporting local energy needs.

Azerishig Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC), the entity overseeing the project, has started preparatory work. The company is actively seeking a contractor to carry out the construction and installation tasks. This step reflects Azerishig OJSC’s commitment to ensuring the project progresses smoothly and meets its objectives.

The company has allocated 2.4 million manat, equivalent to $1.4 million, to fund the implementation of this phase. This budget covers the construction of the transformer station and the laying of the transmission line, underscoring the investment in improving Kalbajar’s electricity network. The financial commitment highlights the project’s importance to the area’s development.

The transformer station and transmission line are key components of the broader effort to strengthen power supply reliability in Kalbajar. By establishing these facilities, Azerishig OJSC aims to provide a stable energy foundation, which is essential for residential, commercial, and industrial activities in the city. The 35 kV line will facilitate efficient electricity distribution, complementing the station’s role in managing power flow.

Preparations by Azerishig OJSC include detailed planning and the ongoing search for a capable contractor. The company’s proactive approach ensures that the project aligns with technical standards and timelines. Once a contractor is selected, construction will move forward, marking a significant step in enhancing Kalbajar’s infrastructure.

This electricity supply project reflects Azerbaijan’s focus on upgrading energy systems in its regions. The first phase in Kalbajar sets the stage for future expansions, potentially improving connectivity and capacity as demand grows. With Azerishig OJSC leading the effort and a clear budget in place, the initiative is well-positioned to deliver reliable power to the city.

The work in Kalbajar demonstrates a practical approach to meeting local energy requirements. As preparations continue and construction begins, the transformer station and transmission line will contribute to a stronger, more resilient electricity network, benefiting the community and supporting regional progress.
