The overarching theme for 2020 is "climate protection" and the contribution that storage systems make to this. On the first day of the conference (March 10, 2020), the key notes from representatives of the EU Commission and the World Bank will deal with the political framework, while in the session "Linking Climate Protection and Business: The CEO’s View” industry representatives such as Dr. Christian Fischer, member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, will discuss Bosch’s “path to CO2 neutrality”.
Contributions such as the Key Note by Dr. Volker Hille, Salzgitter AG, for the production of "green steel", but also lectures on the decarbonization of industry and retail in the "Decarbonization Hub". at the trade fair and in the ESE Forum show how climate protection requires efforts to reduce CO2 emissions through the consistent use of renewable energies, and how this works in the industry. To achieve all this, a change in the energy system is needed, and it will be driven by innovation and the development of energy storage technologies.
In 2020, the IRES and ESE components of the conference complement each other ideally: While the ESE conference by Messe Düsseldorf focuses on business models and best practices for thermal storage, power-to-X including hydrogen and battery storage, as well as international markets, the IRES sessions by EUROSOLAR focus on research & development in the fields of thermal storage, battery storage, other electrical storage, chemical storage and power-to-x technologies and will also present their combination and optimized use in energy systems.
