Visitors to the Tennessee Aquarium are surprised to learn that an electric eel named 'Miguel Wattson' is lighting up a Christmas tree.
This christmas season has come with a big surprise for the visitors of the Tennessee Aquarium at Chattanooga, a city in Tennessee in the United States, where an electric eel named 'Miguel Wattson' is lighting up a Christmas tree.
A special system has been connected to Miguel’s tank which enables his shocks to power strands of lights on a nearby tree, according to a news release by Tennessee Aquarium.
A video of the electric eel 'Miguel Wattson' was posted on twitter, “shocking” around the Christmas tree.
“The rapid, dim blinking of the christmas lights is caused by the constant, low-voltage blips of electricity which he releases when he’s trying to find food,” explains Aquarist Kimberly Hurt. He further added that the bigger flashes are caused by the higher voltage shocks, which Miguel emits when he is eating or is excited.
The aquarium hopes the Christmas tree will spark love and appreciation for the unusual freshwater fish in this festive season.
