Norfolk Boreas Ltd, the project development vehicle, filed the application on June 11, 2019. The Planning Inspectorate has up to six months to carry out the examination and will then send a recommendation to the UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. A final decision by the Secretary of State is expected to be issued in the middle or late 2020, Vattenfall said in a newsletter in February.
The Norfolk Boreas project will be installed 73 km (45.4 miles) off the Norfolk coast, consisting of between 90 and 200 turbines. It will be located next to sister project Norfolk Vanguard, also with a capacity of 1.8 GW.
