Following the ground breaking on the project in July 2019, contractor PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik (IKPT) has been working under loan from PT SMI of USD 21 million.
“Now the accumulative progress of PLTP Small Scale project work as of January 31, 2020 has reached 25.61% of the overall stages of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning,” so Dodi Herman, Director of Operations & Commercial development at PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero).
The project, which is targeted to operate commercially at the end of 2020, according to Dodi, is a concrete step in the long-term plan of PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) in the geothermal sector.
“This is also a Special Mission Vehicle (SMV) under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia in supporting the Government’s program for the supply of geothermal power that is safe and environmentally friendly and provides the benefits of improving the Indonesian economy,” he explained.
Currently PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) continued Dodi owns the Dieng Unit 1 PLTP and the Patuha PLTP Unit 1. That is expected to encourage investor interest in developing industries in the area around the geothermal field.
“It is hoped that the 10MW Small Scale Project will also be able to increase the installed capacity of 60 MW each with a series of targets for the company’s operational development plan to 270 MWe in the year 2023,” he concluded.
