Vestas Wins all Orders from Danish Technology-Neutral Tender

19 Mar 2020  by Bernd Radowitz

Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has won another 63MW turbine order in Denmark, and with that has secured the entire 135MW wind volume of the Nordic country’s second technology-neutral auction in 2019.

The OEM will supply 16 wind turbines for two projects in central Jutland for developer Eurowind Energy, in collaboration with their local partner Vindteam.

“Both projects will be hybrid projects with integrated wind and solar power plants to optimise grid capacities, and we are very proud to execute these milestone projects in Denmark,” said Eurowind chief executive Jens Rasmussen.

“The 4MW platform from Vestas has with our experience shown to be a very reliable turbine technology, and we believe that these turbine types are the perfect match for St. Soels and Veddum Kær.”

The St. Soels project will comprise seven V126-3.45MW turbines delivered in a 3.6MW power optimised mode, while the Veddum Kær project will feature nine V136-4.2MW turbines.

Turbine deliveries are expected to start in late 2020 for the St. Soels project (with commissioning planned for the first quarter of 2021), and in the second quarter of 2021 for the Veddum Kær project (with commissioning planned for the third quarter of 2021).

Both projects come with a Vestas SCADA solution, and include a 20-year service agreement.

“This 100 percent auction success underlines onshore wind’s competitiveness and stresses the continued importance of Vestas’ home market in Denmark,” said Vestas Northern and Central Europe president Nils de Baar.
