Nordex will supply and install wind turbines at the Øyfjellet’ wind farm.
The Nordex Group has secured a 400MW wind turbine supply order from Norway.
As per the terms of the contract, Nordex will deploy 72 N149/5.X turbines at the Øyfjellet wind farm, located near the town of Mosjøen in the municipality of Vefsn.
Nordex Group CSO Patxi Landa said: “With Øyfjellet being such a large and prestigious project, we are delighted that our new customer, Eolus Vind, and the project owner, have decided to select the Nordex Group and, in particular the N149/5.X turbines.
“Øyfjellet will be another major project for the European energy transition, employing our Delta4000 technology and will once again demonstrate how economically onshore wind energy can deliver clean electricity close to consumers’ needs.”
The Øyfjellet wind facility was developed by Nordic wind power developer Eolus Vind, and the project is expected to come online in autumn next year.
Once operational, the clean energy generated by the wind facility will be supplied to Alcoa Norway under a power purchase agreement (PPA), signed between Eolus Vind and Alcoa Norway in 2018.
Alcoa will purchase clean electricity for a period of 15 years and will supply the electricity to an aluminium production plant nearby Mosjøen while meeting the local community’s electricity needs.
