Aussie Solar Project of 200 MW Gets Go-Ahead

28 Mar 2020  by Renewables NOW
The 200-MW Raywood Solar Farm project with some battery storage capacity in Victoria, Australia, has been given the thumbs up by Loddon Shire Council, local media report.

A meeting this week at which the council had to decide the faith of South Energy’s solar project was adjourned because of the coronavirus crisis and a new meeting was scheduled for April 28. This led to the conclusion that Raywood Solar may have to wait a bit more for a decision, but Bendigo Advertiser reported on Wednesday that councillors have found a way to fast-track it. They have dropped a protocol requiring their sign-off for projects facing community objections, the daily newspaper said.

South Energy aims to start construction this year and have the power plant up and running by end-2022, according to the project’s website. It is expected to produce as much power as 71,500 households need.
