Spanish solar developer Powertis SAU on Thursday announced it has arrived in the Italian market to develop a portfolio of photovoltaic (PV) projects totalling 500 MW.
The firm said the projects are “strategically located” in the regions of Basilicata, Puglia, Sicily, Sardinia and Lazio. It highlighted that the expectations from the local electricity market are positive and supported by Italy’s national energy and climate plant (NECP), which sets the target of more than 30 GW of PV capacity by 2030, according to Powertis.
Powertis, which specialises in utility-scale PV projects, aspires to reach 1 GW of ready-to-invest assets in Italy by 2030. The new projects beef up the firm’s international portfolio to more than 2 GW worth of plans in the pipeline between Italy and Brazil.
The company is part of Spanish solar development group Soltec Power Holdings.
