Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured a 226MW wind turbine supply order in Russia.
The Wind Energy Development Fund (WEDF), jointly formed by PJSC Fortum and JSC RUSNANO, awarded the contract.
According to the contract, Vestas will supply its V126-4.2MW wind turbines to five wind farms to be built in the Rostov and Astrakhan region.
The latest contract is the fifth wind energy solutions contract in Russia from RUSNANO and Fortum secured by Vestas.
With this deal, Vestas brings its capacity in the Russian renewable sector to nearly 830MW.
The contract scope covers the supply of the wind turbines, including deployment and commissioning. The turbines will be equipped with VestasOnline Business SCADA solution, designed to reduce downtime and improve energy output.
Additionally, the company has agreed to service the wind turbines by signing long-term active output management (AOM 5000) service contracts.
Vestas intends to deliver wind turbines during the beginning of the second quarter of 2021 and commission them by the third quarter of the same year.
Vestas Northern and Central Europe president Nils de Baar said: “We are excited to continue our valued collaboration with RUSNANO and Fortum for these wind energy projects, which demonstrate once again Vestas’ ability to offer wind energy solutions and services with the market-leading cost of energy, that create maximum value for our customers.”
Last month, Vestas secured a wind turbine supply contract in China.
